Barry Michael Jackson, 83, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, with family by his side.
Barry was a devoted family man, a loving father, and a proud grandfather, known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and easygoing nature. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. A loyal friend, he never hesitated to lend a hand.
Born and raised in Jasper, Barry graduated from Walker High School before serving in the Army Reserves. In 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Camellia (Posey) Jackson. Together, he and Camellia had a daughter, Leigh Anne, and shared nearly 21 years of marriage until Camellia’s passing in 1990. He was blessed to find love again and married Lisa (Lollar) Jackson and gained a stepdaughter, Amber, in 1992. Barry and Lisa spent 24 years together until her passing in 2016.
Barry was a respected real estate appraiser in the Jasper area for 40 years and a pilot for more than 50. His passions and hobbies covered a wide range: From building race cars and hiking in his younger years to RV-ing across the U.S. in his retirement. During his adventures, Barry visited every state, hiked the Grand Canyon and made an annual trek to the Mount LeConte summit in Tennessee. Always seeking the most delicious local dining spots, he could tell you where to find the best “hole in the wall” restaurant anywhere in the U.S. He was also an animal lover who cherished his dogs. But above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Barry was a lifelong fan of University of Alabama football and NASCAR. A season ticket holder for decades, he attended every Crimson Tide home game, and he never missed a race at Talladega—from the track’s very first in 1969 until 2021, a streak of 50-plus years. He loved sharing those traditions with his family, who often joined him in the stands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winifred Theodore Jackson and Elizabeth (Perolio) Jackson, and his wives, Camellia and Lisa.
He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Anne Jackson Way (Michael Way); his stepdaughter, Amber Harris Kimbrell (Clint Kimbrell); and his grandchildren, Jackson Way, Anna Rachel Way, and Piper Kimbrell.
The family will welcome friends and family for a memorial visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home (303 Oak Hill Road, Jasper).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Walker County Humane Society (P.O. Box 1407, Jasper, AL 35502) or the Walker County Animal Shelter, which is managed by the Greater Birmingham Humane Society (https://gbhs.org/donate).
Barry will be deeply missed, but his legacy of laughter, kindness and generosity will stay with us always.
