On October 13, 1930, in Dora, AL, Joe Johnson was born to Joseph and Iris Taylor Johnson. With great sadness, on August 20, 2024, at the age of 93, Joe passed away. Joe follows in death, his wife of 68 year, Shirley Johnson who passed in January 2022.

Graveside services will be Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support, especially Robin Johnson Batson. Robin, your care and support for Joe and Shirley Johnson has been a blessing. Thank you.

Joe is survived by his son – Joe G. Johnson, (Barbara Taylor Johnson) of Jasper, AL; daughter – Jill Johnson of Madison, AL; Grandchildren: Joe Johnson (Heather) of Clarksburg Maryland; Mary Kathryn Frasier (Carter) of Huntsville, AL; and Kimberly Cook (Nicholas) of Anchorage AK; Great-grandchildren: Aaron and Amanda Johnson of Clarksburg MD; Michael and Hayley Cook of Anchorage, AK; Hosts of friends and family members.

Spending time with his family was among his happiest memories. Other memories that made him happy were his time playing football, serving during the Korean War, and helping others with AA.

He was a retired coal miner, who for a while raised chickens on his farm.
