Merilyn Mitchell Knighton of Jasper, AL passed away on January 15, 2025, at her residence. She was born on June 23, 1940, in Winona, MS to her parents Travis and Gladys Blakely Mitchell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Robert Blankenship will officiate.

Merilyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul Knighton; her children Steve Knighton (Christy), Sharon Knighton Luke, and Jeremy Knighton (Lucy) all of Jasper, AL; her grandchildren Luke Knighton (Madison), Jake Knighton (Beth), John Knighton (Courtney), Alison Luke Aldridge (Skylier), and Jackson Knighton; her great-grandchildren Nolen, Ila Mae, Nora, Charlotte, and Truitt; her sisters Leta Mitchell Mims of Carrollton, MS and Alice Mitchell Self (Billy) of Kosciusko, MS.

Merilyn was preceded in death by her parents Travis and Gladys Blakely Mitchell, her sisters Nancy Mitchell Edwards of Kosciusko, MS and Desiree Mitchell Everett of China Grove, NC, her son-in-law Daniel Luke, and her grandson Jett Luke.
