Merita Jean Evans, age 88 of Oakman, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at her residence.  She was the owner of Big R in Oakman.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakman Church of Christ.  Burial will be at Day Cemetery.  Kevin Stanford will officiate.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her Husband-Searcy Evans; Parents-Dell and Kate Guthrie; Brothers-Clarence "Bo" Guthrie, Walter Guthrie, Walker Guthrie and J.W. Guthrie; Sisters-Clara McGough, Ruby Morrow, Evelyn Williams, Helen McGough, Maxine Boles, Willodean Barnett and June Fuller.

She is survived by her Sons-Barry Evans (Alicia) and Zane Evans (Kristie); Sister-Barbara Collins; Grandsons-Sam Sievers, Cole Evans and Aiden Evans; Granddaughter-Avery Evans; Host of nieces and nephews.
