Pamela "Pam"
Kay Burton
May 18, 1958 — Aug 22, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pamela Kay Burton. Pam was born on May 18, 1958. She was born in Jasper, Alabama and remained a life-long resident of Jasper until her passing on August 22, 2026 at 7:01pm. She was born to the late James Lewis Fikes and late Barbara Fikes (brother Mike Fikes). She attended Walker High School and graduated in 1976. She previously worked at Jasper's First Baptist Church as a preschool teacher. She was blessed to teach all 3 of her grandchildren and retired when her youngest grandchild (Hudson) graduated preschool. She loved teaching children and her past students and their parents still rave about the love and dedication that she gave to each of her students. Pam was a dedicated Christian and a member of Glory Baptist Church in Jasper. Her favorite thing in life was spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an event that involved her grandchildren. Until her illness, on Saturdays you would find her at a ball field (all over the state) watching Bucks baseball and her favorite 2 nd baseman, HR9. She attended every play production that Maddox was in and would be front and center. This year, her precious Anna Grace gave birth to her first great grandchild and she was over the moon and wanted to spend every waking minute with them.
Pam would tell you that one of the greatest days of her life happened in June of 1977, when she met the love of her life Barry Burton. They dated for 1 month before they were engaged and a few months later they married on October 7, 1977. For 48 years, they had a storybook marriage and never once had a fight that carried on for more than a day. They lived each day of their lives for God, each other and their family.
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Barry Burton. She is the mother to April Burton Reed and grandmother to Anna Grace (Garrett Busby), Maddox and Hudson (Jason Reed -father). She is the great grandmother to Navy Campbell Busby (who she referred to as the Navy Bean). Her Special "daughter" is Stacey Thompson and she is the aunt to Breanna Fikes (mother- Brenda O'Neil). She has left a lasting impression on her little family and they will each grieve the loss of her for all their days.
