Pat had a warm smile and gentle nature that instantly put people at ease. Being in her presence felt like a warm hug—comforting, welcoming, and full of love. Her kindness, patience, and caring spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pat found joy in working with her hands and was rarely without a project in progress. Whether knitting, crocheting, or sewing, she created beautiful and meaningful pieces for those she loved. From baby blankets that welcomed new lives into the family to delicate bridal veils worn on special days, every stitch reflected her creativity, dedication, and love.
As a devoted Christian, she was an active and cherished member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. She faithfully served in the children's department and taught Sunday School for many years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of young people through her dedication, compassion, and steadfast faith.
She also cherished the outdoors and spent many happy years tending her gardens. She took great pride in growing beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables, finding peace and satisfaction in watching them flourish. Her gardens were a reflection of her nurturing nature and brought beauty to all who saw them.
A wonderful cook, she expressed her love through the meals she prepared and the gatherings she hosted. She created a warm and welcoming home for her devoted husband and beloved son, filling it with comfort, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Family and her faith were always at the center of her life, and she found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved.
Pat's generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. In times of need, loss, or hardship, she opened both her heart and her home to others over the years. Family, friends, neighbors, and friends of friends always knew they could find comfort, a listening ear, a warm meal, and a place of refuge with her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel cared for and welcomed, offering support and compassion when it was needed most.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, William E. Herren; her son, William I. Herren (Jennica); her grandsons, Thomas and Dylan; her sisters-in-law, Joan (Joe) Armstrong and Frances Herren; her nephews, Ruben Livingston, Mitch Livingston, Michael Herren (Carol), and Jason Herren (Lisa); her nieces, Stefani Cull (Chris), LeighAnne Mahaffey, Alison Townsend (Heath), and Mary Beth Armstrong; as well as many beloved great-nephews and great-nieces.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, R. M. Livingston Jr and Wilma Clay Livingston; her sister, Myra Jeanette Livingston Womble; her brother, R. M. Livingston III; her brother-in-law, T.C. Herren Jr.; and her niece, Lee Ann Armstrong.
Among the many lives she touched, she shared a particularly special bond with Stefan Graeber, whom she loved as her own son, and his daughter, Sydnee Graeber, who held a treasured place in her heart as surrogate granddaughter.
Pat's legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the traditions she passed down, the gardens she cultivated, and the handmade treasures she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and gentle spirit will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Her memory will be treasured always.
