Rickey Weaver, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He left behind a legacy of love and cherished memories after bravely battling cancer for three years. Rick was well-respected and admired. He worked as a United Mine Worker for 41 years, retiring from Drummond Shoal Creek Mine. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, often spending time on his boat in the river. While he loved Alabama football, he cherished attending his grandchildren's events even more.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Jeff Allred will officiate.
He was predeceased by his parents, H.Z. "Tink" Weaver and Louise Jones Weaver of Parrish, as well as his sisters Diane McCullar, Nina Jo Self, Vickie Franks, and brother-in-law Bruce McCullar.
Rickey is survived by his much-loved sons, Christopher Weaver of Tuscaloosa and Rich Weaver and his wife Kayla of Jasper. He took immense pride in all his grandchildren: granddaughters Peyton and Alyson Weaver, and their mother Jeannie Everett-Weaver, as well as grandson Jones Weaver and his mother Angie Herron.
Additionally, Rickey is survived by two brothers-in-law, Jessie Self and Carey Franks, along with three nephews: Seth McCullar, Jacob McCullar, and Heath Franks. He also leaves behind his close friend and the mother of his sons, Tommie Heinrich. Rickey shared a special bond with his aunt Sue Banks and his cousin Patrice Banks, with whom he celebrated his birthday. He will be remembered fondly by numerous friends and relatives.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Jasper Family Clinic, Clearview Cancer Institute, ProHealth Hospice, and KPK Sitters for the exceptional care provided to Rickey during his time of need. His kindness, warmth, and spirit will be deeply
missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rickey's memory. He especially supported the American Bible Society, https://www.americanbible.org/ which provides Bibles to people worldwide and to American troops, as well as Eastside Baptist Church where he was an active member for 30 years.
